Schalke coach David Wagner is backing Bayern Munich's interest in Mauricio Pochettino.

Sacked by Tottenham, Pochettino has quickly emerged as a leading candidate for the Bayern job following the dismissal of Niko Kovac. Hansi Flick is currently in charge on an interim basis.

Wagner, formerly in charge of Huddersfield Town, told BILD: "If that works, then we would have a really good coach in the league after J├╝rgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola.

"In England it is customary to invite one another into the office after the game and talk again about the game for ten or fifteen minutes.

Pochettino is a pleasant person who has excelled with Tottenham."
